2.1. Derivative Works and Artistic Transformation

Portuguese Tile Society produces artisan designs that may incorporate licensed stock assets or public domain historic inspirations (e.g., Portuguese azulejos).

  • Artistic "Body": Transference Sudio claims full copyright over the unique artistic transformations, color palettes, and modifications applied to create the final "artistic body" of the tile.
  • Underlying "Skeletons": We do not claim ownership of the underlying third-party stock photos used as a base; such rights remain with the original creators or licensors (e.g., Freepik).
  • Public Domain: Designs inspired by historic murals in public spaces (such as the Bolhão train station) are captured and reproduced under the "Freedom of Panorama" provisions of Portuguese Law and the Public Domain status of the original works (post-70 years from the author's death).

2.2. Prohibited Use

Users and customers are strictly prohibited from:

  • Extracting or reverse-engineering design layers.
  • Reproducing or reselling digital files or physical tiles for commercial purposes without an express written licensing agreement from Transference Sudio.
  • Using Portuguese Tile Society designs as part of a registered trademark or corporate logo.

3. Product Specifications and artisan Nature

All products sold by the Portuguese Tile Society are handcrafted or produced through artisan processes.

  • Variations: Due to the nature of artisan production, material variations, and individual screen settings, final products may exhibit slight differences in color, finish, and texture compared to website imagery.
  • Strictly Decorative: Our products are designed for decorative use only. They are not certified for use as flooring, high-moisture installations (e.g., shower interiors), outdoor environments, or food preparation surfaces. Portuguese Tile Society disclaims all liability for damages resulting from installations that do not follow these guidelines.
