A white windmill with cloth sails on a green headland, dry stone walls running down to the cliffs, and Pico standing out of the water across the channel. Hydrangeas in blue and purple crowd the path, which is what the Açores do to any path left alone for a season.

Fado Gato sits in the middle of it, small against the flowers.

This is the island region our own family came from, so we were careful with it.
