Cruz de Santiago

The red Cross of Santiago, shaped like a sword with fleur-de-lis arms, stands at the centre of a white tile. Blue acanthus scrolls rise on both sides, and two swallows with orange throats swoop below the arms. The red against traditional cobalt blue makes it the boldest of our Camino tiles. It suits a pilgrim who walked to Santiago, or anyone with a link to St James.

In Portugal the swallow is the bird of departure and return.
